The changes in this release are only regarding the Twitter authentication, which has changed since 1st of August, as I remember.

Twitter doesn’t allow anymore the basic authentication so this had to be modified also in TweeU. So for all of you who use TweeU, I suggest to update the plugin or if you wanna start using it, you can find TweeU at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tweeu/ or http://www.robertalks.com/tweeu/.

The installation or update is relatively simple and guided by WordPress, so there shouldn’t be any problems with it. One thing you may have problems with is when you allowed the plugin in Twitter and you are redirected to the WordPress plugin page it may give you an error as it failed to authenticate. At this point you will only need to refresh/reload the plugin page and everything will work fine. I’m still not sure why is this happening, but as soon as I find the issue/problem, I will fix it.

This plugin updates your Twitter account with the new posts from your blog when they are published and creates a short URL link to the post using buh.bz. The difference between the original plugin, Tweetly Updater and TweeU is that this new plugin uses buh.bz URL shortening services instead of bit.ly.

To be honest I don’t like that much bit.ly and because of that I created buh.bz, which uses PHurl code with some modification, of course. Now the cool part is that this new plugin of mine is also included on wordpress.org at plugins. So anyone who uses WordPress and wants TweeU, can easily install TweeU from their WordPress admin console.

Another cool part with this plugin and buh.bz service is that you do not need an account to create a short URL. It’s a simple URL shortening service which, well only makes short URLs. The idea of using for everything an account, like Twitter, bit.ly and so on, it’s not quite the easy thing to manage, especially now a days most of us have tons of accounts on different web sites and I’m sure we don’t need an account also on a URL shortening page/web site too.

The I’ve done it manually and screw-up the rest of it, was working hard, very unstable and weird MySQL issues.

After all of this headache, I went back to 2.7.1, but I had to rebuild all the blog, get the plugins, themes and import all the post from the previous one. It took me like 2-3 hours, but it worked and now seems to work well without problems. I even had to do a new sub domain so I can make everything work right.

Anyway, I came to the conclusion that moving to 2.8, just like that may cause a lot of issue, so at the moment I’ll stick to something older, but more stable. I can’t say that it’s a bad idea to upgrade to 2.8, but from my small experience, it can be hell.

I had the impression that sometimes some parts of the blog weren’t so visible and also was kind of too damn dark. The new wordpress theme is iBlog, which kind of tries to resemble Mac OS X design or Apple design, as you wish. To be honest I like both of them, but on smaller screen’s the previous theme wasn’t so helpful. Another truth is that I do not have so many visitors to my blog to say it is important or not the visibility and quality of the blog, but hey, I’m trying.

The new theme, I bet wont bring too many new people on the blog, but I’m sure it will help those who do visit the blog and read it. So anyways, for those who do read and visit my blog, if you have any complains regarding the theme and even the quality of my writing, do not hesitate to write me. I would really like to know the opinion of everyone.

Well, now back to my work or drawing board :)
