Acer Aspire One
0A couple of days ago, I bought a brand new Acer Aspire One, the netbook thing. Now, I do not have real experience with this types of laptops (netbook), especially that they are based on Intel Atom and some of them, like the model that I got are using SSD type of disk (pretend SSD, I would call it). The model that I got its quite cheap and of course the specs are not so impressive.
openSUSE officially sucks!
0Yes I’ve said it! It sucks and it sucks more then Windows does. I have 3 laptops, 2 at home and one at work, using on most of them Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 or 8.10 and of course Windows XP. Now Ubuntu works quite fine, except some minor issues, like sound problems in Skype or driver problems for one of my Wifi adapter. One of this laptop is an Acer Extensa 5220, which is a quite nice laptop, but it has some issues with the wifi, its an Atheros wifi adapter and in Ubuntu there are issue with it. I added a PCMCIA wifi adapter from Broadcom and with b43-fwcutter it works on Ubuntu. Now the problem was the sound in Skype which seemed impossible to fix so I decided to move from Ubuntu 8.10 to openSUSE 11.1, which at the time seemed a good idea.
