This topic can be found on the net with the millions, but this doesn’t mean I can’t write about it. :) In this post I will try to explain or give a HOW-TO on building your own custom kernel, exactly how I do it myself. To do this you do not really need a lot of knowledge, but still you need to know what you want from you newly build kernel.

A new kernel build: 2.6.30-final (Yes, again!)

Yep! You got it, this is the latest build for Ubuntu/Debian and its based on 2.6.30 stable from kernel.org. This new build includes all the good stuff from the older one, which means acerhdf module patch, coretemp patch for Intel Atom, also this should have a more proper and stable Intel i915 drivers, mode settings support and framebuffer support.
