Changjiang W007 3.2″ touch screen phone review (Chinese fake)
123A couple of days ago I received in the post a brand new W007 mobile phone which I order on dealextreme.com. This suppose to be one of those phones which tries to fake iPhone mixed, I think, with the HTC G2 or something similar.
The price of the phone was $110, which from my standards, its more then a bargain. The phone has a 3.2″ touch screen, with some kick ass colors, I must add. Also included is support for 2 SIM’s, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD, some kind of a multi-touch (maybe not, just some software emulation), TV, Radio, FM Transmiter, accelerometer and many more cool stuff, which some might use them and some might not.
The quality build of the phone it’s quite remarkable, was thinking is gonna suck big time, but I was really surprised. In general the phone is super well done, looking very nice and working the same. The only major or minor issue with it, it’s the cameras, there are 2 of them, but both of the suck, front camera is 0.3M pixel and the back one, I think, 1.3M pixel, but on the phone is written 12.1M pixel, which kind of sucks. Another bordering issue with the phone would be the multi-touch or the touch screen, which is not as responsive when using it with your fingers. If you are using the stylus, then everything works as it should, but if it’s an iPhone copy, well you aspect it to work like iPhone (more or less 
).
Kernel 2.6.32.6-jackson released for Debian/Ubuntu (Jackson)
1Just a couple of days ago, kernel.org developers have release kernel 2.6.32.4, then soon after 2.6.32.5 and now 2.6.32.6. Seems something has change or a lot of bugs where fixed, because in less then 5 days (well +/-) they release tree version. One thing I have noticed in 2.6.32.6 is that the i915 module and drm module where really improved as I got from my tests 1000 frames more then usually. Note also that I am using the latest Mesa, DRM and Intel video drivers available, but I have to admit that it works superb. In the last couple of month there were tons of issues with the i915 module and driver which lacked in performance, but now seems things are going into the right direction.
Besides this big step forward with the i915 video driver, there are other fixed which make this kernel to perform better than the previous ones and a good plus is also some good fixed for ext4 file system, which does seem to out perform ext3 file system, well anyway in my tests . Now do not forget to check the ChangeLog from kernel.org for more info on whats new and what was fixed.
