Ubuntu 9.04 'Jaunty Jackalope' released

Today, Canonical has release their latest Linux version, Ubuntu 9.04 code name “Jaunty Jackalope”. This release brings a lot of improvements, also a lot of new stuff, latest kernel version 2.6.28, latest Gnome 2.26, Xorg 1.6, new style of notification, ext4 support, but not by default ext4 file system, cloud computing, turn-key mail server, which includes postfix with dovecot and support for SMTP, POP, IMAP, TLS and SASL.

Blog theme change!

I had to do it. I had the impression that sometimes some parts of the blog weren’t so visible and also was kind of too damn dark. The new wordpress theme is iBlog, which kind of tries to resemble Mac OS X design or Apple design, as you wish. To be honest I like both of them, but on smaller screen’s the previous theme wasn’t so helpful. Another truth is that I do not have so many visitors to my blog to say it is important or not the visibility and quality of the blog, but hey, I’m trying.

Acer Aspire One

A couple of days ago, I bought a brand new Acer Aspire One, the netbook thing. Now, I do not have real experience with this types of laptops (netbook), especially that they are based on Intel Atom and some of them, like the model that I got are using SSD type of disk (pretend SSD, I would call it). The model that I got its quite cheap and of course the specs are not so impressive.

Crap: Oracle buys Sun

When I believed that everything is gonna work out between IBM and Sun, this falls into place, Oracle buys Sun, something that no one saw it coming. I don’t really have issues with Oracle, but they are not really open source or not as much as I would wish, also I can’t really understand why Oracle bought Sun… I mean Sun are more into OS, some hardware and a lot of Java, unlike Oracle which is more, well actually all database.

Ubuntu 9.04 coming up soon…

Those who like Ubuntu and in general Linux, should be pretty excited that Ubuntu 9.04 is due to be released in a couple of days. For me, this is a great news as I wanna test this new release, see the improvements, speed and so on.
