Kernel 2.6.33-final is here!

A couple of days ago kernel 2.6.33 was released. Due to some personal issues which I had to deal with, I couldn’t actually release the packages sooner than now.

Because I don’t wanna carry too much about this and that and plus I don’t really have much time, I will just say that this final release seems to bring tons of improvements top to bottom, so it should present a good speed and stability especially with the ext4 module and i915 and drm modules. In my tests, it does seems to be quite fast, the kernel itself, but also the Intel i915 module too. The only thing it remains is for you guys to download it and test it.

Kernel 2.6.32.8-pharox released for Debian/Ubuntu (Pharox)

Today seems a good day to release a new kernel package. It’s Friday, it’s almost weekend and why not have some fun with a new kernel release. The kernel was release a couple of days ago, but to be honest, I couldn’t build it due to not having a machine working on some older Ubuntu. Now, if you do not remember what I am talking about, I will give you a small hint, if you have a newer version of Ubuntu or Debian and you do build a kernel and then of course you wanna use that build kernel on some older Ubuntu or Debian, it wont be possible due to libc libraries incompatibility, so because of this you need to build the kernel or kernel package on older system and the you can use it on newer systems too.

TweeU plugin for Wordpress released (version 1.0)

A couple of days ago I have created a new plugin, TweeU, based on Tweetly Updater. This plugin updates your Twitter account with the new posts from your blog when they are published and creates a short URL link to the post using buh.bz. The difference between the original plugin, Tweetly Updater and TweeU is that this new plugin uses buh.bz URL shortening services instead of bit.ly.

So this release is 2.6.32.7 which seems to bring more improvements and fixes so I wont start talking about them, but I will give you a snapshot and in case you wanna read more then just go to http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.32.7.

Changjiang W007 3.2″ touch screen phone review (Chinese fake)

A couple of days ago I received in the post a brand new W007 mobile phone which I order on dealextreme.com. This suppose to be one of those phones which tries to fake iPhone mixed, I think, with the HTC G2 or something similar.

The price of the phone was $110, which from my standards, its more then a bargain. The phone has a 3.2″ touch screen, with some kick ass colors, I must add. Also included is support for 2 SIM’s, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD, some kind of a multi-touch (maybe not, just some software emulation), TV, Radio, FM Transmiter, accelerometer and many more cool stuff, which some might use them and some might not.

The quality build of the phone it’s quite remarkable, was thinking is gonna suck big time, but I was really surprised. In general the phone is super well done, looking very nice and working the same. The only major or minor issue with it, it’s the cameras, there are 2 of them, but both of the suck, front camera is 0.3M pixel and the back one, I think, 1.3M pixel, but on the phone is written 12.1M pixel, which kind of sucks. Another bordering issue with the phone would be the multi-touch or the touch screen, which is not as responsive when using it with your fingers. If you are using the stylus, then everything works as it should, but if it’s an iPhone copy, well you aspect it to work like iPhone (more or less :) ).
